Tonight San Pedro Police have the man who they say stabbed thirty seven year old Roberto Jimenez Marroquin to death. 34 year old Alvaro Rene Gregorio of
the San Mateo area was captured around ten forty five this morning after authorities received a tip that he was at a location about two miles north of San Pedro Town. Gregorio, was hiding out at a friend’s house and did not put up any resistance as he was taken into custody.
But when police asked him what happened inside the home of his estranged common law wife, Gregorio told them that the only person he would speak to is his lawyer. So the critical evidence is coming from his estranged wife, thirty six year old Aura Molina who was at home at the time of the homicide.
She had been separated from Alvaro Rene Gregorio for three months but at midday yesterday he arrived at her home. Fifteen minutes later, Roberto Jimenez with whom was having a relationship arrived to have lunch. Gregorio warned Jimenez that he did not want him around his wife and that’s when police say he reached for a twelve inch kitchen knife and stabbed Jimenez two times to the left side of the rib cage and left side of the chest. Jimenez died inside the home. San Pedro Police later recovered the murder weapon from the nearby swamp. A charge of murder were laid against him this evening.
On Wednesday family friends told 7NEWS that Aura Molina did file several reports with the San Pedro complaining that Alvaro Gregorio has been abusing her but according to the police they have been unable to find any file that indicates any report was made.
