Starlah Rivas a Dangriga town resident continues to recover from a bullet wound she received after her common law husband Ernette Dawson shot her on the right side of the body following a domestic dispute on Tuesday. And yesterday another woman was stabbed by a man in San Ignacio Town.
And while Dangriga Police have a motive and the man who pulled the trigger, their counterparts in Cayo are having a hard time solving their case, because they believe the victim may know more than what she has been reporting to authorities. The victim is thirty six year old Nelida Guerra and she told police that around eight on Wednesday morning she was walking on Tenth Street when a Hispanic looking man she claims she does not know stabbed her in the left side of the abdomen and then ran off. Guerra who was treated at the San Ignacio Hospital has since been released. Police say they have been able to establish that there was no argument before the attack and that nothing was stolen from the victim.
Police tell 7NEWS they are troubled by the report and that the case is being investigated from all angles including the possibility of whether the attacker is a mental patient.
