Breaking news on Friday was that two bodies, one of an adult female and the other of a child, were seen floating down the Mopan River on Friday afternoon near the village of Succotz. The news tonight is that those bodies still have not been found but the body of another 17 year old female has. She has been identified as 17 year old Elsa Romero Mendez, a Guatemalan national, from Arenal. That means the mother and the child are still missing. Search teams have been scouring the area of Calla Creek and Bullet Tree since Saturday but have been unable to find the bodies.
A District Emergency Management Organization spokesman told us a family from Arenal has shown Benque Police the pictures of the missing adult female and the child.
Police have still not recovered the body of Nigerian national Adulgafar Taye Bello who it is believed drowned on Wednesday when he attempted to cross the Sittee River in a dory at the Kendall crossing. The body of his companion - Nigerian Mujeedat Clasunbo Biobaku was recovered on Thursday morning.
