This morning there was a collision at the roundabout at the corner of Saint Thomas Street and Princess Margaret Drive. It happened sometime around 8:30. Celita Lisbey’s 2005 Toyota Corolla collided into a Mitsubishi L200 pickup. No one was seriously hurt but Lisbey’s Corolla flipped at least once, landing with its four wheels in the air. She and her dog escaped with minor injuries. Neighbours say this isn’t the first accident at the new roundabout. In fact Josephine Young, who asked to appear off camera, lives near the intersection and she says this is the fourth accident in one week.

Josephine Young, Area Resident
“This morning I heard the crash. So I came out, whenever things like that I usually come out to see if I could give assistance and when I saw what happened I said oh my Lord I hope nobody died.”

Keith Swift,
The accident this morning looked pretty bad but two people were able to walk away without major injuries.

Josephine Young,
“Apparently. The young lady I guess they had her hand all bandaged up, I don’t know if it was broken or what but I doubt it. But thank God nobody died but somebody will be killed if they don’t come and do something about it because this roundabout is not helping because nobody yields.

The people on Princess Margaret Drive will not yield to the people coming from St. Thomas or St. Mathew. This is the fourth accident in one week. As a matter of fact if you look down the street there is a car still parked there that had an accident.

Over the years I’ve been ringing City Council, the former City Council, that it is dangerous and that they have to do something about Princess Margaret Drive.”

Residents complain that the roundabout isn’t illuminated which also contributes to late night collisions. Celita Lisbey received an injury to her right arm while the driver of the L200, also a woman, needed a neck brace. There has been no official police report on the incident.
