Zero tolerance, but 100% protection. That’s what the police demonstrated today with accused police extortionist Constable Marlon Harris. The 32 year old was whisked around the courtroom away from the cameras and today the Police Press Office refused to release his picture – when they regularly release photos of accused persons.
But while we can’t show you his picture, we cane tell you that the Cayo resident was arraigned this morning on one count of extortion. He appeared in front of Magistrate Aretha Ford in court #4 where he was offered bail of $2,000 which he met. Harris is due back in court on January 5.
.
The allegation is that Harris offered to drop the charge against Ayte Klin- Kelat after his vehicle was stopped at a checkpoint without valid insurance. Kelat reported it to police who set up a sting operation: Kelat paid the money with a marked bill and as soon as Harris left his office, he was apprehended by police, and the money was found in his possession.
