Police say 35-year-old Anthony McKoy, is one of two men who broke into the Atlantic Bank Collet Agent at the corner of Cemetery and Magazine Roads a week ago. Police charged McKoy with the aggravated burglary of over nine-thousand dollars after a including a metal safe which contained three 9 milimeter pistols with 6 loaded clips carrying a total of 90 rounds of live ammunition plus another seventy rounds of ammunition. Police haven’t found any of the weapons or ammunition but they did recover a microwave oven that was stolen.
Police believe that McKoy got into the building through the back, by cutting the chain link fence and then cutting off the shutters padlocks. The shutters were half open when police arrived at the scene. Police picked up McKoy on Sunday, and say that he was positively identified by a witness as one of the culprits who was seen entering the building. He appeared in court this morning where he was charged with aggravated burglary and was denied bail due to the nature of the offense.
The seasoned criminal has 15 offences on his rap sheet, but only two convictions, one for handling stolen goods which occurred in February of 2002, for which he spent 3 years at the Hattieville Prison. McKoy also has a prohibited firearm conviction from august 2, 2006, in which he served another 3 years jail term. He presently has two matters pending in the court. For this matter, he is due back in court on January 22.
