Tonight a Chinese woman’s face is still barely recognizable after a vicious beating at the hands of armed robbers on Friday night. 39 year old Xiao Hua Zhu was about to pull down the shutters at Jenny’s Shop on Meighan Avenue at 9 on Friday night when two men accosted her. One of the assailants was armed with a silver handgun and he punched her in the face – causing her to fall down. The second attacker pulled down the shutters after which the two men ransacked the store and also Zhu’s house. It was a vicious attack as Zhu was repeatedly punched in the face by her attackers. Today her face was still swollen when we spoke to her and her brother Li Ming Zhu.

Xiao Hua Zhu, Robbery Victim
“Two men came from outside. I was trying to close the door and two people saw me closing and they came.”

Li Ming Zhu, Brother
“She was trying to close the door and two men jumped in the front and knocked my sister down here and they closed the door. They came in with a gun and they stole everything.”

Keith Swift,
What did they beat her with?

Li Ming Zhu,
“With their hands, they punched her.”

Keith Swift,
How many times?

Li Ming Zhu,
“Too much times. They asked her to give them all the money and she gave them it and told them there was no more but they still asked for more and they knocked her on the face.”

Keith Swift,
So they continued to punch in the face because they wanted more money?

Li Ming Zhu,
“Yes.”

The men made off with an Acer brand laptop, 2 cell phones, and a stash of BTL and Smart phone cards, and $1500 in cash.
