21 year old Shelton Moguel and his 18 year old girlfriend Anna Hunter won’t be home for Christmas because they will both be in jail. The couple was busted yesterday in a house on Balan Street where police allegedly found a trove of prohibited ammunitions and guns. This morning Moguel and Hunter were jointly arraigned on ten firearm charges. Bail wasn’t an option and so both were remanded to the Hattieville Prison. That’s where they will stay until January 20th unless their attorney can arrange bail from the Supreme Court. That’s the penalty for dealing in unlicensed firearms right? Well, it’s not that simple their family says the weapons were not found on the accused. Keith Swift has more.
The stash of ammunition and the firearms were found in this apartment. These holes in the floor and the ceiling - as well these broken walls are the damages police officers allegedly caused. Police have charged 21 year old Shelton Moguel and his girlfriend Anna Maria Hunter. Their parents claim they were set up.

“My son noh live cross yah either. They asked my son where he lived and he said 8331 Balan Street. They brought my son across here and they told him you noh live cross yah – you live over there and it is just times you are at your mom’s house. Now they can’t tell my son where my son lives.
They tek my son and they took him upstairs and they started to search. They told me I can’t go upstairs because they are doing an investigation and if they find anything illegal - everybody going to station. Okay so I stayed on the street. His girlfriend went to the shop and she was coming home. I said the same thing the police told me they should have told that young lady because I noh so simple fi know gun was up there and I know I was going to go to the station. They sent that little girl upstairs which is totally unfair.”

“I don’t know what to say but I know for sure if I my daughter knew guns were in there, she wouldn’t have stayed there because my daughter doesn’t like those things. Well I noh really she I think they di target you know. I think they are targeting her boyfriend, he and his people because you have a lot of people don’t like them.”

“I want this thing stop because it is like they are just after my pickney. In fact they’ve already said that they won’t stop until they get all of them down. For what reason? My children didn’t do anyone anything. They are only assuming things and all of this only comes from the big one because they say oh the big one this and big one that and if they can’t get to he they will get one of his little brother because that will hurt him more.
Keith all of these things which are coming out, all the hearsay and the text coming out, all of things turn into reality. Three months ago they killed my baby. For what? Only God in heaven knows and nobody has done anything about it. But now you see what they are doing with these ones. They pull gun from I don’t know where – I don’t even know if maybe they brought it and put it there. I get tired of those things and I wish that our justice system will change. Somebody please do something about it because it is not fair.”
The ten charges are namely: three counts of possession prohibited ammunition for a 7.62 caliber live round, two.44 live rounds, and eight 357 live rounds. There is one count of possession of prohibited firearm for a.44 caliber revolver. There are four counts of possession of unlicensed ammunition for fifty one 9 mm live rounds, four.36 live rounds, twenty.32 live rounds, and one.380 live round. The tenth charge is for possession of prohibited material. In this case it is a black plastic extended magazine, capable of carrying 31 nine milimeter rounds. Attorney Dickie Bradley is representing the couple and the family says they are trying to secure bail from the Supreme Court before Christmas.
Shelton Moguel is the brother of controversial police officer Delmar Moguel who is on interdiction. Their brother Stanley was killed in September. No one has been charged.
