She said she was kidnapped but 22 year old Lionel Eaghan said he was just being a good samaritan when he picked up 31 year old Nicaraguan national Yettie Desouza. Desouza told police that around midnight on Christmas night she was walking home on Calle Al Mar Street after dropping off food at her husband’s work. She says a four door car with heavy tint pulled up and the driver ordered her to get into his car, she claims, under the threat that he had a gun. Fearing for her safety, she complied and she claims he took her to an area near the Brodies Superstore on the Northern Highway.
She says Eaghan was about to unzip his pants and that’s when a police patrol pulled up. Lionel Eaghan was today charged with unlawful imprisonment. He told Magistrate Sharon Frazer that he met Yettie Desouza in distress and that she told him her husband had just beaten her. He says that she was the one that pulled him over.
Lionel Eaghan was released on bail of $1,500 on the condition that he stays away from Desouza.
