On Friday, December 26, Impendence Police responded to a murder in Bladden Village at one of the Banana Farms where a man had been chopped to death; the attack was so vicious that one of his legs was severed by his attacker – who is now in prison pending trial.
Two weeks later, Independence Police again responded to the report of a chopping death. It happened in Cowpen Village where they found 42 year old Honduran, Israel Escobar Montoya butchered to death; both his head and his right hand had been cut off. It happened inside his home where the labourer lived alone. Neighbours tell police that on Friday night they heard noise coming from his home – but no one checked on him until the following afternoon – which is when the gruesome discovery was made.
Police have detained one man for questioning and area looking for another. Investigators tell us that they do not have a motive at this time.
