Police Constable 102 Charged for Extortion

24 year old Andre Almendarez also Police Constable 102 was today taken to court, charged with one count of extortion. On Monday, a Salvadorean man claims that he paid him one hundred U.S. dollars to look the other way as the officer allowed him to pass the Western Highway checkpoint with a traffic violation.

Almendarez – who is from Ornage Walk - pleaded not guilty in court and was given bail of 1,500 dollars. The case was adjourned to the 17TH of February. He was unrepresented in court.
