She was going to America, so on Tuesday February 17 Julie Can Kensun left 28-year-old Belmopan resident, Revelino Martinez, to return a Suzuki Vitara to Crystal Auto Rental. But he never did, and Martinez disappeared. Kensun reported it to police who say they found him with it on February 22nd. Martinez appeared before Magistrate Aretha Ford this afternoon and said that he did not wanted to waste the court’s time and pleaded guilty to the charge.
But after the facts were read, Martinez did not agree with the part that said that police found him in possession of the stolen car on Sunday, February 22. According to Martinez police found him with the car on Friday, and he has been in custody since then.
He further explained to Magistrate Frazer that he did not steal the car but in fact he had mechanical problems with it when he made attempts to return it that day. With all that, Magistrate Ford entered an equivocal plea of not guilty on his behalf. The matter will go to trial. Martinez was offered bail of $5,000 which he was unable to meet. He will re-appear on April 2, 2009.
