Cayo Police detained 21 year old Daniel Sampson yesterday for robbing a store in Santa Elena on Wednesday morning. But tonight Sampson is probably still a free man because with handcuffs on and all – Sampson was able to escape from police custody.
He is accused robbing the first stop grocery store and restaurant at 9:20 yesterday. The store’s owner 33 year old Wen Fen Zhui told police that Sampson entered and ordered cigarettes. Zhui says he was getting the cigarettes and that’s when Sampson pulled out a gun and jumped behind the counter and stole $200 in cash and another $200 in telephone cards.
Police responded to the report and detained Sampson. They report finding the stolen cash and phone cards on him. So they handcuffed him but Sampson – who is a resident of Dangriga - still managed to escape.
