Did Police Constable Manuel HILL Receive money from a Chinese businessman in Belmopan to set up a hit in Orange Walk? That’s what the Police Commissioner said, but yesterday, the lead investigator James Magdaleno denied it. That left us wondering who had it right and who had it wrong, between the boss and his fifth in command.
Well today, Magdaleno called us to say he’s the one who had it wrong. He told us that he’s read the statement and yes, Manuel Hill was allegedly handed ten thousand dollars to carry out the hit. Attorney for Hill, Dickie Bradley has called that statement prejudicial. According to our sources the full price for the hit was twenty five thousand dollars, with a portion to be paid before and the rest after.
And the man accused of setting it all up, of sponsoring the execution has still not been charged. He is a prominent Chinese businessman in Belmopan. The police say they will charge him only if they get a directive from the DPP.
