Off Duty Policeman Killed in Belmopan

The capital continues to be a troubling hotspot; police are still trying to solve the disturbing murder of a 12 year old girl and now, this afternoon, a policeman was killed. It happened in the Salvapan area where around 2:20 pm where 26 year old Constable Weiner Dennis was shot. We stress that Constable Weiner was off duty and he was riding his bike under a mango tree when he came under fire.

He was shot to the abdomen and chest and ran into a nearby bakery where he took cover. He was rushed to the western regional hospital but died at 3:10 pm. Police do not know the motive for the shooting at this time. Weiner had been a police officer for just over a year. We’ll have more on this story tomorrow.
