And while the news of the accident has dominated the city’s attention – at the mile 8 community on the Western Highway, all the talk has been of a senseless murder of a senior citizen. Jacqueline Godwin found out about this perplexing killing.

Jacqueline Godwin Reporting,
Inside the small home nothing seem out of the ordinary. A plate and pot remain atop a table top stove and these shoes and belt left neatly arranged on this antique trunk, the personal belongings of seventy three year old Alvin Alpheus Robinson. But this bloodied and soaked bedding left outside to dry tells you that what happened inside the humble home of the elderly man was vicious and cold.

The family strongly believes the killers came from the back of the property,

snuck into the one room dwelling where 73 year old Alpheus Robinson was sleeping in his bed and stabbed the senior citizen several times.

Shalissa Majil, Granddaughter of Murdered Grandfather
“He had two deep cuts to the tonsil right here and after when I reached at the hospital I met two more in cheeks, like they actually stabbed him and the knife came out. He had behind his neck and you can see all the stab wounds. They killed him bad and I don’t know why they had to hurt my grandpa like that because my grandpa didn’t deserve to die that kind of way.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
You guys live at the front of the property, you didn’t hear anything?

Viannie Majil, Granddaughter of Murdered Grandfather
“No we didn’t hear nothing, no kind of struggle or nothing.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
So when you heard what happened to him what went through your mind?

Viannie Majil,
“Well just why would they want to do that to him. He doesn’t interfere with nobody and I don’t see anyone having anything with him either.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
Do you know if anything was stolen?

Viannie Majil,
“No, nothing.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
So they just entered his home and killed him?

Viannie Majil,
“Yes.”

The attack against the defenceless grandfather occurred after nine on Saturday night but it was not until sometime later that he was discovered by one of his grandchildren.

Viannie Majil,
“And I carry tea for him about 9:30 or 10 and when I went, first of all I met the door opened and I know when he goes to sleep he normally doesn’t leave his door open, he usually closes the door. And when I went into the house, I found him on his bed sitting down. His back was slouched already, his head was down, and he had his hand at his side too and I was going to ask him why was he sitting down in his bed and why he had his door open and then when I looked I saw blood by his neck and when I spot the light good I saw his neck bloody and his shirt and when I checked his shirt, he had a lot stabs, his shirt was cut.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
Was he alive at that time?

Viannie Majil,
“Yes he still was breathing.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
Was he able to talk to you?

Viannie Majil,
“No he didn’t say nothing. When we lifted his head, it went right back down.”

But who would want to kill seventy three year old Alvin Alpheus Robinson? Hattieville Police strongly it is an uncle and nephew who committed murder who have been

identified as twenty one year old Dwayne Almendarez and twenty year old Gregory August. According to investigation earlier that day the duo had an altercation with one of the victim’s sons Tyrone Robinson who authorities believe was the intended target. The family also believes that it was a revengeful killing.

Shalissa Majil,
“From what I believe I think it is revenge.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
Over what?

Shalissa Majil,
“Because the earlier in the evening a misunderstanding gaan on between one of my brothers and they just rode off and said they would come back and when they come back we will see what happens. So I don’t know if that is why they did my grandpa that, to get revenge on we. I don’t know.”

Michelle Majil, Daughter of Murder Victim
“Well this strange to me because I don’t know why they would do a thing like this to him because he didn’t deserve what he get. I don’t know why they did that.”

The killers then escaped through the route they used to get to their victim’s house. But as they ran they also got rid of some evidence. Somewhere along this picado road, the police found a set of footprints and a knife, they weapon they believed that was used to kill 73 year old Alpheus Robinson. The accused are no strangers to the police in fact the nephew Gregory August has an attempted murder charge before the court. They are also known to the victim’s family and on occasions socialized with them at the Majil’s home.

Michelle Majil,
“I want to know why they did this to him and this is not the first time they are doing things around here here.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
The same two men the police have in custody?

Michelle Majil,
“The same two guys. More than one report are at the police station about them.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
You know the men the police have in custody?

Viannie Majil,
“Yeah it is two friends who are always here too.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
So that should come as a shock to you.

Viannie Majil,
“Yep.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
What is it you want to tell them?

Viannie Majil,
“I just want to ask them why they had to do that to my grandpa.”

The troubling question remains was it a case of mistaken identity after all the victim is seventy three years old or did Gregory August and Dwayne Almendarez intentionally kill their intended target’s dad?

Michelle Majil,
“It is strange yes.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
We’re talking about a 73 year old man.

Michelle Majil,
“Imagine.”
