Today eighteen year old Stephen Palacio, the driver of the Toyota Highlander that knocked down and killed six year old Jose Garcia Jr. on Saturday evening appeared in Belize City Magistrate’s Court.
Palacio was arraigned on nine charges including causing death by careless conduct, drove a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, driving without due care and attention, manslaughter by negligence, use of an unlicensed motor vehicle, use of a motor vehicle not covered by third party risk insurance, took a motor vehicle without consent or lawful authority, failure to report an accident and failure to stop and render aid.
Stephen Palacio was offered bail of five thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount. At five this evening, he was unable to meet bail and was remanded to Hattieville Prison.
