It was a kidnapping that ended in the double homicide of thirty two year old Dorian Michael and twenty four year old Keiva Leslie. But today one of the three accused was freed because as we understand, he is expected to be the crown witness against his accomplices twenty four year old Edwin Flowers and twenty one year old Danny Anderson who have also been charged for the brutal murder and remain behind bars at the Hattieville Prison.
According to court reports twenty one year old Ladyville resident Jaime Chavarria walked free from the double murder after the Director of Public Prosecutions entered a nolle pros. No reason was given in court for the DPP’s decision but sources tell us that it is possible that the prosecution will be using Jaime Chavarria as the crown witness in the hopes of getting a conviction for the double murder.
The bodies of the victims were found on a road just off the Northern Highway by the Haulover Bridge. Dorian Michael and Keiva Leslie were both shot in the back of their heads. It is believed the two who were travelling inside Dorian Michael’s van when they were kidnapped and held hostage while their assailants used the vehicle to commit a hold-up and robbery at the Esso Gas Station on Freetown Road. Michael and Leslie were then taken up the Northern Highway where they were killed. Dorian Michael’s van was later discovered abandoned in the lake Independence area.
