He was on the police’s wanted list for six months but 25 year old Ernie Miranda’s time on the run ended on Sunday when he was shot by police. Police apprehended Miranda inside a home on Zacaranda Street around 10 am on Sunday. Miranda limped into court on crotches today – and alleged that the police officers dragged him down the stairs and into the yard where he was beaten and then shot.
Today in court Miranda was charged with burglary for breaking into Yvonne Little’s home at the corner of Tulip and Oleandar Streets on January 2nd – and stealing nothing. He pleaded not guilty.
The police prosecutor requested that bail be denied because of Miranda’s six month on the run. But given Miranda’s condition, Magistrate Sharon Frazer she sent Miranda to the KHMH for treatment and reserved a decision on bail until tomorrow.
