Fifty five year old mechanic Slavomir Sedlacek and his wife and children are lucky to be alive after a ruthless home invasion yesterday at noon. Fearing for his life, Sedlacek did not wish to appear on camera but police have confirmed that the drama unfolded during the lunch hour inside the family’s residence at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Caesar Ridge Road.
According to Sedlacek he was eating with his family when two dark complexioned men – one of them of East Indian descent – charged through the front door and held them up. One of the gunmen described pointed the handgun at him and demanded he hand over his wallet. Sedlacek says he feared that his family would be shot and so he took out the wallet which contained just over three hundred dollars. The assailants also took personal cards, id documents, spare vehicle keys and an I-phone. The robbers then escaped by jumping over the locked fence. The men were then seen riding off on separate bicycles down Caesar Ridge Road.
So far police have no leads in this case.
Gang of Robbers Hit Chuc’s Service Station
San Ignacio Police expect a break through anytime and that is why they are not saying much in connection with a major burglary that netted just over six thousand dollars for a gang of robbers. It happened around one on Monday morning at the Chuc’s Service Station situated on the Bullet Tree Road in the Cayo District.
According to police, they were alerted to a burglary in progress but when they arrived at the gas station everything seemed to be in order – except for a broken window. Investigators followed up on that and found the watchman with his hands and feet tied. He told police that two hours earlier, he was making checks on the top of the building when he was pistol whipped by two masked men who tied him up. The robbers then got into the office and stole the six thousand dollars in cash.
Today, the police press release states that four men of interest have been
detained. When we contacted Cayo authorities they informed us that several individuals who include employees of the service station have been detained that is because authorities say based on what they have gathered so far in their investigation they believe it was an inside job. Arrests are expected by Wednesday.
