Tonight we begin with news of the shocking death of high profile businessman and former Deputy Leader of the United Democratic Party Oscar Ayuso Jr. The 51 year old was found shot to death inside his home in Bella Vista on Friday night. According to the official police report, at around 7:30 on Friday night Ayuso’s wife Halima went to give him supper and found him dead in a chair with a bullet wound to his left temple. His licensed point 380 Beretta pistol loaded with 8 live rounds was found on the scene as well as one expended shell. The report says no foul play is suspected.
So why would Ayuso kill himself? Well speculation is rampant that he was deep in debt. Reliable information that he was facing eviction within the next two weeks. Ayuso inherited his family run travel agency and import businesses and entered politics in 1999 when he was appointed senator. He won the Caribbean Shores constituency convention in 2001 but lost the 2003 election against the then incumbent Jose Coye. He served as the UDP’s Deputy Leader from 1999 to 2005. He resigned as Deputy Leader in August of 2005, one day after losing the Caribbean Shores convention to Carlos Perdomo.
