A dead body was found near Belmopan this morning. The identity isn’t known tonight but we do know that both the person’s wrists are missing. Police aren’t calling it a murder just yet but all indications are that it is.

A passer-by found the body this morning in these bushes just a few yards off from the Mount Pleasant Road.
Sgt. Ismael Westby, Lead Investigator
“The police encountered a body which we can describe as probably a Hispanic or a Mayan Indian descent body wearing a blue jeans pants along with a pair of black shoes, had no shirt. We suspect that this body had injuries on the right and left hand since we did not find any of his wrists, the hand
and wrists over.
We cannot at this moment say that the two of the hands were cut off. We can say two of the hands are missing.”

“I know you’re not a doctor but you could give us an idea of the state of decomposition?”
Sgt. Ismael Westby,
“Well due to what we can see at the scene, we believe that this person have been there decomposing probably about three days now.”
Police say the man does not fit the description of any missing person in the Belmopan area which is they why have expanded their search.
Sgt. Ismael Westby,
“What the police have done so far is that we have sent an all formation message to our different formations nationwide seeing if anybody had been reported missing fitting this description. Also if any relatives from any members from the community who has been missing, they can contact the nearest police station or the Belmopan Police Station so that maybe they can have a look of what we have at this moment.”
The body remains where it was found pending an onsite post mortem tomorrow. It was found quarter mile down from where the burnt remains of Rosa Cornjeo were found in April.
A post mortem will be conducted tomorrow by Dr. Mario Estradabran. Very interestingly, Rosa Cornejo was killed and then burnt on that same road in April of this year. Two brothers from Belmopan were later charged.
And as we told you last night, three men are still detained for the murder of James Young which was discovered on the weekend. Charges are expected as early as tomorrow.
