An 18 year old this morning pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods burglarized for a car parts store – but by the end of the day, he had changed his story and his plea. Martin Sharp allegedly broke into E&C Used Auto Parts on Amara Avenue between Monday and Tuesday of this week and stole $945 of inventory.
Police found most of the items at Sharp’s house on Wednesday and today in court he was charged for burglary and handling stolen goods. This morning he pleaded guilty to handling but not to burglary. But because he appeared confused and did not agree with the facts of the case Magistrate Albert Hoare entered a plea of not guilty and remanded him to the Hattieville Prison until the end of the month.
Sharp told the court that police handcuffed and beat him while he was in custody.
