He stole a pair of tennis shoes from his mother worth $29 but it will cost 34 year old Sheffield Brown 18 months in jail.

Rose Jacobs reported to police that on September 26th she looked through the window of her home on Jimmy Dyer Street and saw her son – Sheffield Brown – walking off with her pair of tennis shoes in his hand. The tennis shoes were valued at $29.90 and she had left them in the front seat of her car. Jacobs says she hollered at Sheffield to return the tennis but he didn’t and that is why she called police. That led to her son’s arrest.

In court today he pled guilty to theft and Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie sentenced him to 18 months in jail. This was brown’s fifth conviction for theft. And if you are wondering – his mother did get back her pair of tennis shoes.
