He is one of the two gunmen who allegedly opened fire on a street crowded with school children a week ago and today 22 year old Erwin “Beans” James was charged in court. He was slapped with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of dangerous harm, one count of wounding, and three counts of use of deadly means of harm.
The gunshots rang out at around 3:45 last Monday afternoon when hundreds of school children were heading home in the Mahogany Street area. Police say that James was one of two gunmen who rode up on bicycles and opened fire on Brandon Smith who was hit in the shoulder. 12 year old Rosalind Ranguy was grazed on her right leg and 9 year old Alex Estelle who was shot on his right foot.
Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie took no plea from Erwin James and she also denied him bail. He was remanded to prison until November 5th.
