And while that is tragic, there is also disturbing news of two other Belizeans coming out of California. According to the Associated Press, Damon D. Thompson who left Belize two years ago to attend UCLA, stabbed a female student in the neck while they were both working in a chemistry lab on campus. Thompson has been charged with attempted premeditated murder, causing great bodily injury and personal use of a knife. He is being held on bail of a million dollars.
The two students were standing next to each other during a chemistry lab session in Young Hall when Thompson allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim five times, including slashing her throat. According to investigators, the attack was unprovoked.
