Tonight Constable Alvin Castillo who is attached to the San Ignacio Police Station is facing charges of aggravated assault and damage to property. The victim who is a resident of the town and a teacher did not wish to be identified but told 7News that it all started on Sunday afternoon inside her residence and continued well into the night.

The woman told 7News that PC Castillo is her ex boyfriend and at the time of the incident they had been separated for two months. According to the victim, on Sunday Castillo came a round her house a number of times threatening her, and when she locked the door, and when he couldn’t get in, he kicked down her back door and stormed in.

That was around 9:00 in the night and she was sitting on the sofa with her young baby. According to the woman PC Castillo then grabbed a knife, and told her_,”someone will be dead tonight.” The victim said in an effort to distract PC Castillo so she and the baby could get out of the house she told him to go and fix the backdoor. When he got up to go by the door she dashed outside with her child to a neighbour’s house, a neighbour who just happened to be a police corporal. Castillo then broke her vehicle’s windows.

The police were called out to the location but by the time they arrived PC Alvin Castillo was gone. Today San Ignacio Police confirmed to 7News that PC Alvin Castillo was arrested and charged for the aggravated assault and damage to property.

But he’s still on active duty! San Ignacio Police say they are still waiting for word from their headquarters in Belmopan if PC Alvin Castillo will be interdicted from duty pending the outcome of an investigation.
