It was all over the news last week when Kevin Sutherland allegedly shot Works Minister Boots Martinez’s car three times.
Well, Sutherland eluded arrest for a week – but he was today taken to court and charged with aggravated assault and damage to property. The thirty-one year old pleaded not guilty to the charge. But because it is a firearm offence, he could not be granted bail and he was remanded into custody until December 28th.
The shooting happened last week Thursday. Minister Martinez was not in the Nissan Altima at the time. It was being driven by his employee Michael Sutherland who was parked on Reggae Street in the Port Loyola Area. That’s when Kevin Sutherland – a relative of the driver - pulled a gun, told him he wanted to see the Minister and then shot the vehicle three times, shattering the rear glass and damaging the trunk.
