Twenty three year old Eusebio Cal, a labourer who allegedly stabbed Police Constable Eric Pat has been charged with attempted murder, dangerous harm, use of deadly means of harm and damage to property. Today, the accused appeared in Magistrate’s Court. No plea was taken from him because the offences are indictable.

Magistrate Sharon Fraser explained to Eusebio Cal, a resident of twenty seven Nargusta Street that he could not be offered bail because of the nature of the offences. He was remanded to the central prison until January sixth, 2010.

The incident occurred around eleven forty five on the night of November twenty sixth at the Cabana Bar situated on east Collet Canal Street. PC Pat told police he was socializing at the establishment when he got into an altercation with Cal and that is when Cal alleged stabbed him in the right side of the abdomen with a broken glass bottle.

Eusebio Cal also reportedly broke the rear windshield of a police vehicle. The damage is estimated to be seven hundred and fifty dollars. PC Eric Pat remains in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a stable condition.
