For the second time in two weeks, today twenty five year old Mark Medina was back in Magistrate’s Court. This time he pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. The offences follow an incident that unfolded around one twenty on the morning of June twenty eight of last year.
Court reports are that Mark Medina was at Club Next at Princess Hotel and Casino when Police Sergeant Henry Jemmott went to the establishment. Mark Medina was wanted for a theft. But when Sgt. Jemmott placed his hands on the suspect’s arm Medina reportedly allegedly knocked his hand away and told the policeman that he was not going anywhere. Sgt. Jemmott nevertheless managed to take Medina outside of the establishment where Medina reportedly continued to resist arrest and then threw a punch at the arresting officer but missed hitting Sgt. Jemmott. With the help of other police officers Medina was finally restrained and taken into custody.
It is interesting to note that during his court appearance today Mark Medina who initially pleaded not guilty to the charges quickly changed his plea to guilty while Sgt. Jemmott was giving his testimony. He was sentenced to three months for each offence.
