He’s a the owner of the Alijua Hotel on San Pedro but today, 23 year old Ruan Nunez went to court as an accused drug trafficker. Nunez and his colleague 23 year old Colin Searle were intercepted yesterday afternoon at the police checkpoint at mile four on the Western Highway. Police say that yesterday they pulled over a green Ford Escort car Nunez was driving and found four brown plastic bags stuffed with a total of 2 kilos of marijuana in the trunk. That’s four and a half pounds.
They went to court today charged for drug trafficking. Nunez pleaded not guilty while Searle pleaded guilty. Magistrate Sharon Frazer told Searle she would fine and not confine him because it is his first offence. She fined him ten thousand dollars and gave him until March 31st. to pay. If he defaults on payment, he will serve three years. The charge against Nunez was withdrawn after Searle’s guilty plea was accepted.
