It was never reported by police but on December 29th, 26 year old Steve Arnold was shot in front of the Rose Garden Nightclub on the Northern Highway. Arnold who lives in Ladyville says he went to buy food and got into an altercation with a group of Chinese men. He says there was a physical fight and it was while leaving that he was shot once in the back. The bullet tore through his stomach and Arnold spent a week in the hospital. He was seriously hurt and now he wants justice. He told us he did nothing wrong and that he feels now like the bad guy.
Steve Arnold, Shooting Victim
“I got shot in my back like duck. They bust open my belly, I had tubes and those things. But they advantage me and they want to charge me for robbery so I want to know how this robbery came up. How will they charge me for robbery? Why would they charge me for robbery, that is throwing off my whole mind. How would I want to rob him when I have $80 in my pocket. Me get robbed because I didn’t even get my $80 back nor my wallet or my ID. I get robbed and now they want to turn around and charge me for robbery. They shot me and my right turned into a wrong right there.”
Keith Swift,
“Do you want to press charges?”
Steve Arnold,
“Well I want it to be an open case because I get shot for free and I got robbed for free and I got charged for robbery for free, you get the sense.”
The Officer in Command of the Ladyville Police Inspector Calbert Flowers told us this evening that the incident did occur but that to his knowledge Arnold and his alleged shooter have already settled their difference. As was made obvious by his appearance on the news it is far from settled for Arnold.
