Kareem Barona Charged for Attempted Murder

27 year old Kareem Barona was today charged with attempted murder for the Christmas morning shooting of 20 year old Darrell Berry.

Berry says that at around 4:30 on Christmas morning he was walking on Castle Street when a man wearing a mask and riding a bike approached him. Berry says the man opened fire and fired several shots – one of which struck him in his left cheek.

Barona had been on the run since the incident and was not detained until yesterday. In addition to attempted murder, he was also charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. No plea was taken, no bail was offered, and Magistrate Sharon Frazer remanded Barona to the Hattieville Prison until February 25th.
