Schakron was revealing on the stand – telling Justice Oswell Legal that he was, “forced,” by the Minister of Natural Resources Gaspar Vega to make the statement implicating former Minister Coye. Schakron alleged that in return, Minister Vega promised to remove the caution on the Putt Putt property. He added that he never wanted criminal action. We spoke to both Coye and Schakron as they left the courtroom.
Jose Coye, Suing for Malicious Prosecution
“I want vindication legally. I need no vindication outside the legal system but within the legal system I want vindication. The case as you know was withdrawn because there was nothing to substantiate the charges against me.”
Keith Swift,
“You are asking for $50 in legal

fees.”
Jose Coye,
“Well that is what it cost for what we had to pay over the period.”
Keith Swift,
“You said in there you didn’t want charges against Mr. Coye.”
Alfred Schakron, Defendant
“I never did want any charges. I never did any charges, it is the political arena that put the charges against him.”
Keith Swift,
“He says his reputation has been tarnished, do you in any way feel responsible?”
Alfred Schakron,
“I feel sorry for him but I didn’t do anything to harm him or harm his reputation in no way.”
Keith Swift,
“Mr. Schakron said in there that it was the Minister Gaspar Vega, he claims, who told him to give the statement and I will lift the caution. What is your reaction to hearing that?”
Jose Coye,
“I think it is for you now who was in the courtroom to try to put it all together as to who was in fact behind all of this against me.”
Keith Swift,
“Does him saying that surprise you?”
Jose Coye,
“I was very much aware. I have said this before, it was said on the rostrum at the victory rally by the Minister of National Security and that is what they were following up on.”
