A prison warden was killed in a traffic accident on Thursday night on the Hummingbird Highway. 31 year old Obner Najera was traveling with a friend Jose Juarez near mile 18 on the Hummingbird Highway around 10 pm when the vehicle ran off the road and flipped. Jose Juarez walked away from the accident but Obner Najera’s skull was crushed and he died on the scene. Najera’s niece is convinced alcohol was involved but she says no one has been charged.

Niece of Accident Victim,
“The car flipped over, the passenger side is really damaged. The blood was on the passenger side, brains was all over on the passenger side. The driver side didn’t get damage the same way and the owner of the vehicle received no injuries. As of now I have no other information about that accident and I guess the accident will end up just like that. That is all I know.”

Keith Swift,
“The family doesn’t want police action?”

Niece of Accident Victim,
“Well no they are a Christian family. But in my situation I would do something about it but I don’t need to respect my grandmother’s will, that is all I know.”

Keith Swift,
“But you believe this guy was drinking?”

Niece of Accident Victim,
“They were drinking, they have evidence and witness that they were drinking at that time. Like I said it is my family’s will, I can’t go against them. They are Christians, they go to church, and they will leave it in God’s hands and they say God will do the right justice.”

Keith Swift,
“Police haven’t arrested this guy?”

Niece of Accident Victim,
“None at all. He went to the hospital that same night and came out the other morning. He was out home freely and happy.”
