He may have hobbled into court on crutches today, but 30 year old Eric Martinez was the one being charged. He’s accused of pointing a firearm at a woman about eight hours before he was shot in his buttocks. He was charged with aggravated assault and pleaded not guilty. But because it is a firearm offence, he was remanded.
Chenique Robinson told police that she was standing at the corner of Freetown Road and Kelly Street on Thursday afternoon when Martinez pointed a pistol in her face. Eight hours later Martinez was riding on Freetown Road with his daughter when he was shot. He was admitted to ward at the KHMH and was charged as soon as he got out. Martinez is on parole after serving 4 years of a 6 year sentence for robbery.
