In June of 2007, Police Constable Leroy Kerr was charged for stealing $175,000 worth of gas from the Police Department. He was arrested and charged for theft and placed on interdiction. But today the case against him fell apart and Kerr walked out of the Magistrate’s Court a free man. After a preliminary inquiry, Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie found that there was no evidence against Kerr.

The theft allegedly occurred between November 2006 and April 23rd of 2007. Kerr was attached to the Raccoon Street Police Station and the allegation is that Kerr – who was the support staff for then Eastern Division Boss and now Commisisoner of Police Crispin Jeffries - was given fuel requisition orders which had been signed and authorized by Jeffries for police use. It was alleged that he would then fraudulently pass these on to private individuals.

Leroy Kerr was defended by attorney Dickie Bradley.
