Commissioner Jeffries also gave an update on the robbery at Courts yesterday – which was also allegedly master-minded by the police ring. Yesterday, the Police Press Officer said that the robbers had a gun and demanded money, but today Commissioner Jeffries says they simply slipped the cashier a note.
Crispin Jeffries,
“Two males who were in the premises, one of them presented a note to the cashier, a threatening note of which I’ve noted the details and proceeded to collect from that young lady who is a cashier from a cash pan a small amount of money collected. He then fled the area accompanied by a colleague and exited the building. The police by this time were not too far on their heels and combed the entire area, that is from Princess Margaret Drive all the way up to Belama. During that response very little was found out, no one was caught.”
Police are still reviewing security tapes to come up with an identity of the robbers. In another incredible twist, sources close to the investigation tell us that the police crime ring is also being investigated in connection with the attempted robbery of a security guard’s firearm at Atlantic Bank which happened three weeks ago.
That would then bring to four the number of broad daylight robberies that have happened since the first week in March for which the police crime ring is being investigated. The investigation is ongoing and we’ll keep following it closely in the coming days.
