The Customs Department today intercepted what it believes to be thirty thousand pseudo-ephedrine tablets. The intercept was made at the Phillip Goldson International Airport where a package coming out of Bangladesh and addressed to a local pharmaceutical company was detected. According to information from the Customs Department, the package included five cartons and three of those contained the supposed pseudo-ephedrine pills.
At this time, the Customs Department cannot absolutely confirm that the pills are pseudo ephedrine because the suspicion so far is based on the results of a test done with a simple kit – it will now be sent to the lab for a more definitive test. But, the department is sufficiently convinced that it is pseudo-ephedrine and one person is presently being questioned while others affiliated with the company are being sought for questioning.
We’ll keep following the story and have more for you in tomorrow’s newscast.
