Seventy one year old Emmanuel Gabourel a.k.a. “Dawdi”, charged with aggravated assault of an indecent nature upon a five year old female child, was found guilty of the charge today in the Number Two Magistrate’s Court. Magistrate Sharon Fraser remanded Gabourel into custody until Wednesday, April 21st, to give herself time to decide what penalty she should impose. The maximum sentence is two years.
The incident occurred on May 29th, 2009 at Gabourel’s house located at 8403 Jones Street. Two sisters, ages five and three were found naked with Gabourel in his bed. The parents of the children testified that they heard them crying and when they went to Gabourel’s house they found Gabourel in bed with the two girls.
The five year old testified on camera that Gabourel fondled her. Gabourel was not charged for the three year old, because she could not give the police an account of what actually transpired. In his testimony, Gabourel claimed that nothing that he was accused of actually happened. He said the parents and relatives of the children came to his house and beat him, and had the police not arrived in time, they would have killed him.
