A week ago 25 year old Renan Reneau was gunned down in the yard of a house at the corner of Kut Avenue and Supal Street. He was buried this afternoon which was at about the same time that police charged his accused killer. He is 17 year old Devon Sankey – a resident of Supal Street and a friend of the deceased. But now he is an accused killer and his mother Enid Williams police have arrested the wrong man. She says she is sure her son is innocent because he was asleep.

“This is the point I want to know: how whosever said it, how can they say it was he because the person had on a mask on his head. You can’t identify a person by a mask. Even when the person pulled up, everybody said the person went in that direction where he gone plus the person has hair on his head and my son’s head is bald. It is an innocent person going to spend time for a man who is out here still yet, a killer who is out here still yet. It is very unfair Keith. I nuh the tek up for my son but my son has so many witnesses that he was sleeping. I am not taking up for him but I know he didn’t do it.
My son never killed nobody, he doesn’t rob nobody, all what police charge him for was a stick of weed if he is smoking.
I think they need to find the person who killed that lady son. They need to find the person who did that and release my son because he didn’t do it. You think if anybody else around here would have seen exactly the face, yes they would say my son did it but nobody saw his face because Devon was sleeping. He wasn’t even out here, absolutely none at all. I even asked for a PI for and they say they won’t give no PI because everybody who talked against him knows him. Why won’t they give a PI? Let a PI go through and pick the correct person out because it is not him. Everybody knows it is not him. My son was sleeping.
This is the paper right here where they charged him. This is the paper right here for murder they didn’t charge him in front of me as the mother because he is a minor. They came way to my house at 3:30 when his 48 hours done happen. I need an ID parade for my son. I need that.”
Enid Williams says she has been told that the major evidence again her son is that he was identified with a silver ring.
