A small child was killed last night on the Western Highway in a tragic hit-and-run. Around 11PM, Angelica Gamboa was walking on the shoulder of the road and attempting to cross the highway between miles 40 and 41 with her 3-year-old son, Daniel Miranda, in her arms when she was hit on the left arm by a passing vehicle.
Both mother and child were flung across the pavement and the child was thrown so far she could not find him. Police responded and they found his lifeless body in the bushes. Gamboa, who is from Lucky Strike Village, was treated for an injured arm and abrasions to her left arm and leg.
