Forty two year old Dalesmon Lewis, a construction worker of Oleander Street, who allegedly committed a sexual assault on a 7-year-old female child, was charged with aggravated assault when he appeared today in the Number 2 Magistrate's court. Lewis pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the complainant is a minor. Magistrate Sharon Fraser upheld the objection and remanded Lewis into custody until June 7th.

The incident occurred on Thursday, April 29th. The child, accompanied by her mother, went to the police station and reported that she was at home asleep when she was awakened by someone fondling her. She identified the person as Lewis.
