And while the intrigue of the investigation and the fear of retaliation is one thing - the fact is that today witnessed a crime unlike any other in the city before. A man was killed in plain view, brad daylight in front of the courthouse building; the report of the gunshots sounded throughout the courtrooms.

It caused the cancellation of court this morning and the suspension of all court activities this afternoon.

And with that, the trial of 25 year old Keon Williams Myvette, a.k.a. "Duppy", charged with the murder of Michael Gladden, was aborted today in the court of Justice Herbert Lord. Justice Lord made a judicial adjournment for next week when a jury of 12 will be selected from a new pool. Gladden was gunned down in broad daylight on February 28th, 2007, while he was on Lovely Lane.

Myvette's aborted trial would have been be a retrial. In the first trial which concluded on November 10th, 2008, the jury was unable to reach a verdict. The chief witness for the prosecution is security guard, Levi Brown. Brown appeared today to testify but he did not get a chance to do so
