Dionicio Life Salazar had been on the run from San Ignacio Police for just under two weeks. But yesterday afternoon in Belize City, his run ended when he was intercepted by police. He was caught at this home at #68 Mckenzie Lane - which is off Central American Boulevard in the Port Loyola Area. Around 5:00 in the evening, acting on information received, Police searched the home and found Salazar alone inside. And while he was un-accompanied, word in the neighborhood is that he was being put up by his girlfriend. Since then police have taken two others who live in the yard into custody including the owner who was renting it to his niece. And while they were released without charges today, Salazar won't see freedom anytime soon as charges have been for waiting for him.
According to the Cayo Star newspaper, he was taken to San Ignacio last night and arraigned this morning. He appeared in the courtroom of Magistrate Edd Usher where he was charged for the murder of 26 year old Marlon Rivera and the attempted murder and dangerous harm of 41 year old Dean Dougal.
At around 3:00 on the morning of Sunday June 13, Salazar allegedly opened fire on both men in the very center of San Ignacio. Rivera died on the spot while Dougal was shot three times to the head, neck and shoulder but survived. He is recovering and was released from the hospital this week.

Salazar's case is particularly noteworthy because the man aptly nicknamed "Life" is a convicted killer who got off on a technicality when a re-trial was ordered. He was originally sentence to life in prison for killing Danny August - who was the nephew of Dean Dougal, the man he allegedly attempted to kill two weeks ago.
According to the Star newspaper, Salazar was remanded to prison and will be brought back to court on Tuesday August 10, 2010.
