This afternoon shortly before midday when a car sped through the Manatee Lookout Check Point police set off on a high speed chase on the Boom-Hattieville Road but they were no match for the car hightailing it away from authorities. Police said that investigations revealed that the two men made a stop in Ladyville where they stashed the contents of the car and sped off again.

But their lawless escape fell apart when coming up to mile five and a half on the Hattieville Boom Road the driver of the car lost control and slammed into a BNE truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The BNE truck, driven by thirty five year old Marvin Chable careened off the highway from the impact of the collision. Speaking on behalf of a very shaken up Chable was BNE's Communications Manager, Daniel Gutierrez:

Daniel Gutierrez, BNE's Communications Manager

"From what we understand the individuals in the blue car was coming at top speed around the curve and they simply lost control of the car and careen into the truck you see behind me and fortunately it hit the truck in an area that didn't cause any injury to the driver and he came off the road and the guys them jump out of the car and ran down the highway."

Andrea Polanco
"So the BNE truck was travelling in a north bound direction and the car was going down?"

Daniel Gutierrez, BNE's Communications Manager
"Yes, that is correct. The car was coming at a high speed and they try to come inside of the curve as not to fly off the road but they weren't able to control the car and so they slam into him."

Andrea Polanco
"So do you know how many occupants the car had?"

Daniel Gutierrez, BNE's Communications Manager
"What we understand from the police that there were 2 occupants in the car."

Andrea Polanco
"With regards with your driver. Did he got any hurt or anything like that?"

Daniel Gutierrez, BNE's Communications Manager
"Fortunately he did not get any hurt, obviously he is a bit shaken up but he did not get hurt and we are happy that nothing happen to him."

Andrea Polanco
"I see the truck is badly damage, did he had any contents in the back that probably got damage as well?"

Daniel Gutierrez, BNE's Communications Manager
"Yeah, he was bringing a generator back to Gentrac, the folks from Gentrac come on site and take it back to Gentrac. That topple over and I would be very surprise if that didn't get some kind of severe damage but that has now been taken back to Gentrac."

Before Chable was able to get out of the truck, he said that the occupants of the car were nowhere to be seen. What remained of the car would seem like a death sentence for the occupants, but it seemed that they were fine because some five minutes later when the police arrived on the scene the men had already taken off into the bushes. Police later searched an area in Ladyville where they retrieved two DVD players, two flat screen TV's, a laptop and other items hidden in the bush, all believed to have been stolen. Investigations continue.
