There are reports of 2 separate shooting incidents this evening - which both occurred shortly before news time. The first shooting took place around 5:30 this evening behind the Yabra area- somewhere near the Cumberbatch Field. Details are still sketchy but what we know is a man was shot in the foot. He is identified as Mark Vernon better known as Pele. According to our records he was shot by the same Cummerbatch field on April 28, 2010. He got off a murder charge in 2007 for the killing of Curlin cluck Cluck Felix.
Our team was at the hospital where we saw Vernon limping out the hospital door - to meet his family that was waiting in the emergency area outside..
Shortly after a woman was rushed to the hospital in a police pickup truck.
She was being escorted by police officers inside the hospital. She was seen suffering from a gunshot wound to her right thigh. We are not certain where that other shooting took place. Again we will have more information on these two shootings in our newscast tomorrow evening.
