Two men, 28 year old Leon Williams and 31 year old Randy Mahler, charged with attempted murder and abetment to commit murder, were freed of the charges when they were struck out today in the #2 Magistrate's Court.
Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser struck out the charges after the complainant, Calvin Palma, testified that he doesn't want any further court action.
Palma said he wasn't threatened to drop the charges but he did it because he wants to give them a second chance. The charges arose from an incident which occurred on March 11, 2009.
Palma reported to the police that while he was on Gill Street a vehicle drove by and several shots were fired at him - hitting him in the palm of his hand.
Palma, who is currently on remand for a robbery charge claimed at the time that Williams was the shooter and Mahler was the driver of the vehicle.
