Last week, 41 year old Peter King Contreras was charged for the murder of his mother-in-law, 50 year old Argentina Arevalo Garcia. He returned to court today for a standard adjournment and was remarkably candid about the killing. He told chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie that he did not mean to kill her. He said they had a fight before he strangled her.

The Magistrate suggested to him that the charge could be reduced to manslaughter and bail could be offered. Contreras refused; he said he does not want any bail because he wants to punish for what he did and he wished that the punishment would start now.

He said that he is not insane and repeated that he wants to punish for what he did. He was remanded into custody until February, 23rd, of 2011.

Arevalo's body was found in the back of his car on December 13th. He is believed to have been driving around with it in the car for 14 hours.
