A ruthless armed robber who was found with (0.1) grammes of crack cocaine and a single round of unlicensed nine millimeter ammunition will spend four years in jail.
Carlos Seguro's troubles with the law started back in October in Burrell Boom when he and another man allegedly held up hotel owner Douglas Thompson and stole items valued at thirty seven thousand, two hundred dollars - including a car valued at twenty nine thousand dollars.
When police detained him over two months later on Tuesday, December 22, while he was at the station he handed over to police one round of 9 millimeter ammunition. When Seguro was taking out the bullet a white ball of paper fell from the pocket of his pants which contained the 0.1 gramme of crack cocaine.
Today in court, the Forty year old Seguro pleaded guilty to ammunition without a gun license and possession of a controlled drug.
Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie sentenced him to 3 years for the ammunition and one year for the controlled drug. The sentences are to run consecutively, so Seguro will serve 4 years.
He was also charged with aggravated burglary for the holdup. Seguro wanted to plead guilty to that as well but an equivocal plea of not guilty was entered because he said he did not commit the offence. The case was adjourned until February 24th, 2011.
